INTRAMUROS, Manila—two authors from ST PAULS Publishing received the prestigious Cardinal Sin trophy after unanimously adjudged winners of Liturgy and Ministry categories of the Cardinal Sin Catholic Book Awards in the historical Intramuros on August 27, 2012.
Fr. Gil Alinsangan, SSP, author of On the Way of the Cross (Liturgy Category) and Ms. Ilsa Reyes of Healing through the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Ministry Category) were hailed winners. Ms. Lumi: The Teaching Candle, a storybook written by Mary Concepcion Matias, a high school student, and Maria Agnes Conchel Yap-Marcon’s One Life were finalists in Youth and Children and Family Life categories as well.
His Most Rev. Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle, DD of the Archdiocese of Manila was the event’s keynote speaker, which also served as a thanksgiving for judges of this year’s CMMA entries. The good archbishop, in his address, elaborated the significance which communication plays in the history of our salvation. Noteworthy also was his emphasis on the value and responsibility of communicating fundamental Christian virtues in our technologically-advanced society, recognizing how latest communication gadgets still failed to establish peace in the world.
Cardinal Sin Catholic Book Awards is organized by the Asian Catholic Communication Incorporated (ACCI). In collaboration with the organizers of Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA), it acknowledges annually publications fostering Christian formation and values. This year, 18 published books were judged as finalists in six different categories namely, Liturgy, Family Life, Ministry, Youth and Children, Spirituality and Theology.
