ST PAULS LAUNCHES MISS LUMI, THE TEACHING CANDLE

The event was part of the school’s Foundation Week. Mrs. Lydia Cuevas Vicente, the owner of the school, and Mrs. Maria Teresa Chavez led the event. The Function Hall of the Administrative Building was filled with grade school and high school students. The launching became more interesting with the short storytelling as a sneak preview of the book by Miss Melody Remorca.

Lumi, the teaching candle was written and illustrated by Mary Concepcion Matias. Her peers fondly call her “Queenie”. Queenie started her grade school years in St. Paul College in Pasig, then continued her secondary years at Lorenzo Ruiz Catholic School. Born of Jesus and Zenaida Matias, Queenie has the eagerness to learn valuable lessons and share them with her peers. She is fond of collecting quotations, and likes to read fiction stories that also teach about life.
With the use of the teacup, the spoon, the fork, the table napkin, the pot and the candle, Queenie wonderfully shared to her readers valuable lessons. These are simple lessons, very practical yet very important. As Miss Lumi says. “Our future depends a lot on how we can all be good teachers to our children.
