The desire for knowledge is something natural to man. And his happiness is closely linked to wisdom. Wisdom enables man to discover the meaning of his life and to act in a upright way. In contrast, ignorance, as the source of disorder and errors in behavior, prevent him from attaining happiness.
The teachings of the Magisterium of the Church regarding philosophy veer toward a clear objective: to serve man in his quest for truth and the meaning of his life.
This book states the principal issues concerning the nature and relationship of philosophy in theology. Theology makes use of philosophy not because it cannot stand by itself. But because of the limits of the human reason. Through his knowledge acquired through the use of natural reason. A man can easily deepen his understanding of truth, particularly the supernatural truths.
The late John Paul II affirmed that now more than ever, there is a need to sow the good seed of metaphysical truth above all. Confusion on theology in crisis in morality are generally caused by a crisis in philosophy”. Philosophy has a social role of tremendous importance because the path of man which leads to his end passes through it. This explains why the Church is so keen about safeguarding the integrity of philosophy.
